Grading May

Congratulations to the students who graded on the 14th of May. It was an extremely demanding grading going for 3 1/2 hours and our kids were little machines going right till the end, even the littlies, to earn a very deserved new belt grade. Shihan Shane was very impressed with the kids and is now in preparation for the seniors grading later this year.

2010 Major Raffle

We are now looking for donations for our box trailer. We are looking for homewares, tools, toys, sporting equipment, food items including hampers, alcohol etc. Please, only new items will be accepted. We greatly appreciate any and all donations. The raffle will be drawn on the 31st of July. We have booked into the local shopping centres and there is a sheet on the noticeboard at training for those willing to help out for a couple of hours. Please put your name down or see Carol Soner.

Mid Year Holiday

We have been forced to have a mid year holiday this year so the school can use the hall. There will be no training on the 29th of June and on the 1st, 6th and 8th of July. Also, no training on the 3rd of July due to our fight night The battle by the bay being held that day.

Fundraising Meeting

The next meeting will be on Friday 25th of June at 6:00pm at Sensei Shane’s.

RMAA Fight Night

Mid year on the 3rd of July we will be running a fight night with Fight World.

We will have Kickboxing, MMA, and Karate fights. We would like to give RMAA people the first chance at tickets so if you would like some please book with Warren Westerberg.

Please be advised that tournament forms will no longer be accepted without full payment. Please keep up to date for upcoming tournaments by reading the newsletter, the notice board and the website.

RMAA Fight News

JWP fight show - Jimmy had a hard 3 round fight for his first ring fight. He got a lot of good kicks in and head punches but lost narrowly in a points decision. Kyle "THE WILD THING" Westerberg had another win. After a fast and furious start Kyle ended the fight with two big body kicks about a minute into the fight. Well done boys.

Saturday Training

The 4pm Saturday classes will be changing from week to week. On some weeks we will be concentrating on Kickboxing eg: bag work, focus mitt drills. And some weeks we will be grappling and ground fighting and once a month we will have Tournament training.

Tournament Team

If you are interested in being part of the tournament team in 2010 you need to start training hard. 2010 is shaping up to be another big year of tournaments. RMAA is holding 2 tournaments in 2010 the first date is as follows:

RMAA will once again be competing in the NAS tournament circuit. The dates are as follows:

Rd 1 : 7^th March

Rd 2 : 18^th April

Rd 3 : 20^th June

Rd 4 : 15^th August

State Titles :- 17^th October

Also in September we will be attending the ASKA Friendship Tournament held on the Gold Coast. This club has supported our tournaments over the past few years so we would like to repay their support and take a team to this event.

At this stage we are planning on taking another team to the IKA event to be held in New Zealand in the first weekend in November hosted by Hunchi Torupe 8^th Dan. This will be a great trip so train hard if you would like to be selected.
