Our Story
Established in 1994, Seishin Zenryoku – Redlands Martial Arts Academy has been a beacon of excellence in the Redlands community for over two decades. Founded with a vision to impart traditional martial arts values while fostering personal growth and community spirit, our academy has remained committed to these principles throughout its history.
Our Mission
At Seishin Zenryoku – Redlands Martial Arts Academy, our mission is simple yet profound: to empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds through the transformative power of martial arts. We believe in cultivating not only physical strength and skill but also mental discipline, confidence, and respect for oneself and others. Through our dedication to excellence in teaching and our unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive community, we aim to inspire our students to reach their fullest potential both inside and outside the dojo.
Our academy is led by a team of dedicated and experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise with our students:
KYOSHI SHANE DEGNEY
Kyoshi Shane Degney has been training in martial arts since 1984, he achieved his black belt in 1988 and has been teaching martial arts from that time. Kyoshi Shane obtained his 6th Dan on 28 Jully 2014 under Hanshi Terupe 9th Dan and Hanshi Michael Ireland 9th Dan. Shihan Shane has graded thirteen students to black belt in his school since its inception.
SENSEI ASHLEY DENSMORE
Sensei Ashley Densmore has been training with Shihan Shane Degney since 2006. He obtained his black belt in 2011 and 2nd Dan in 2014. Sensei Ashley has obtained his accredited instructor Certification with the MAIA. He also holds a current Blue Card And First Aid Certificate. Highlights of his martial arts career include wining tournaments locally, Interstate, Nationally and Internationally. This also includes theOpen Black Belt Title in Dubbo NSW, a tournament run by Hanshi Michael Ireland (Shihan Shane`s instructor).National All Styles 2019 National Champion for Veteran’s Point Sparring,
SENSEI KAREN YOUNG
Sensei Karen Young has been training with Shihan Shane Degney since 1996, she obtained her black belt in 2002 and 2nd Dan in 2010. Sensei Karen has been an accredited instructor with the MAIA since 2003, holds a Blue Card and First Aid Certificate. Highlights of her martial arts career include. Winning Australian title many times over, including the National All Styles Female Champion of Champions in 2005, Trans Tasman titles in 2005 and a World Title in 2006.
SENSEI MARK STONE
Sensei Mark Stone has been training with Shihan Shane Degney since 1995, he obtained his black belt in 2002 and 2nd Dan in 2010. Mark has been an accredited instructor with the MAIA since 2003, holds a Blue Card and First Aid Certificate. Sensei Mark is also an accredited referee for the National All Styles Tournament circuit. Highlights of his martial arts career include travelling to Japan for an International Tournament and winning Australian titles, 2016 & 2017 National All Styles Champion of Champions.
